For Devin and I, the NFL Draft holds greater significance than just figuring out who will play for the Seahawks in the fall. We'll always associate the draft with the day when we *thought* we'd welcome Dylan to the world.
On a Saturday around this time two years ago, we called Overlake Hospital at 5am to see if they'd allow us to check-in for an induction - as recommended by our OB. Of course, we were super excited and anxious at the same time. They had a very busy Friday and didn't have any empty rooms. They told us to call back at 7am, again at 10am, and then encouraged us to grab breakfast before giving us the green light to come in at noon. We did just that and had breakfast at Manzana's restaurant while watching the NFL Draft. Perfect combo and great way to take our minds off of the big event ahead!
After several hours at Overlake and no sign of accelerating labor, they sent us home with an Ambient Rx...the best sleep I had had in almost five months (and would have until Dylan would sleep 9hrs at 4 months). The next day (April 29) was a re-do. Dylan arrived with a healthy dose of Petocin and we became a family.
