Dooz!

Dylan had his first haircut at 8mos by good ol' dad and a pair of electric clippers. Back then, he sat still and didn't have much hair to trim (or to mess up if the clippers went astray). It was pretty easy. Fast forward 14 months later and things are quite different.

Dylan's hair was getting a little unruly, so we thought it was time to get a "real" (professional) haircut. We sucked up the cost ($25 without tip to be exact)and took Dylan to Dooz children's hair salon on Mercer Island.

Shannon was really great with Dylan and is clearly a skilled, professional who has a very tough job. Dylan's new "doo" is great and looks much better than what Devin and I would've been able to do. Thanks Shannon!

I now have a better idea for why children's haircuts can be a bit pricey. Aside from it being challenging when kids can be squirmy, the $25 is a fee for the experience and maybe the souvenirs that we walked away with: 1) before and after photos enclosed in a Dooz card 2) sample clippings of Dylan's hair and 3) a surprise toy that comes out of a fun vending machine. Dylan was also entertained by Dora the Explorer (TV in the mirror), unlimited amount of cars and a range of books - thank goodness for those!
