Earlier this month, we tested the notion as well as our patience by treking all the way down to Bend, OR for Catie and Todd's wedding. Aside from a few fights over blankets or toys left in the "common space" between the two car seats, Dylan and Mia did really well. I'm sure that it helped that we stopped in Portland to help break up the seven hour journey. Plus, the iPhone and DVD player helped keep Dylan occupied. Mia just seemed to be easily entertained by her brother.
The toughest part of the trip? Keeping the kids on a normal nap and sleep schedule. If you're a parent, you know the horrible consequences that insue when sleep patterns are altered...not good for everyone. Dylan seemed to have been affected the most. By the end of the trip, he was attempting to parent us by withholding on pool time if we weren't allowing him to do what he wanted. grrrr, made me realize that 3's are worse than terrible twos.
That said, we had an amazing vacation and can't wait to visit Bend again. Thanks Catie and Todd for allowing us to celebrate your special day with you. XOXO
