Today a 2010 Census volunteer stopped by our home to ask a few questions. Oops, probably should have submitted the survey. Dylan went to check out who Devin was speaking to and quickly realized that she wasn't someone he knew. I soon learned that Dylan had been taught about strangers at school - thanks Ms. Allison!
Dylan: There's a stranger at the door.
Me: You're right. What is a stranger?
Dylan: Someone you don't know. Strangers are scary.
Me: You're right, some are. You need to be careful and not talk to strangers.
Dylan: Ah, ha. Strangers want goodies.
Me: Goodies?
Dylan: Yes, they want goodies from kids.
So we talked a bit more about strangers. Gosh, it was a little tough trying to articulate things in a way that a 3-year old would get and not fear everyone.
