Our little slugger

Is it too early to star thinking about MLB when it's dead of winter and the NFL hasn't wrapped up yet? Well for us, we got an early taste of the upcoming season when we visited Safeco Field for Fanfest 2010.

Dressed in his Ichiro jersey, Dylan couldn't wait to visit the "stadium" as he calls it. He was hoping to meet Ichiro, hit the ball on the field and get popcorn. Latter two - done and done. For the first, we'll have to be done another time if we're lucky :).

Devin and I were surprised by how many people attended the event and the lines. Long lines to get into the ballpark, lines to get food, and more lines to participate in the field activities. Surprisingly Dylan waited patiently for 45 minutes to hit four balls off the tee in center field. Mia was also quite the trooper. For the three hours, she hung out in the Baby Bjorn and took in the experience without a fuss. As Devin put it, perhaps we're ready to brave the ultimate patience test - Disneyland (aka human mouse trap).
The Seattle PI reporter managed to capture the experience for us: http://www.seattlepi.com/baseball/gallery.asp?SubID=5423&page=4&GTitle=Mariners%20FanFest%202010&pubdate=1/30/2010. Here's also a few of our own pictures.
