Broken home...

What's one of the worst ways to put a damper on your vacation? Losing baggage, delayed/missed flight, etc...all probably come to mind, right? How about learning that someone broke into your home?

The day before we were to depart from Arizona, we learned from our neighbors that our office window was broken and our front door wide open. It was especially hard to hear since we couldn't do much from Arizona.

We feel extremely fortunate that no one was hurt and nothing stolen - or at least from what we can tell so far. After waiting several weeks for insurance and our builder to come through, our front door frame has been repaired and window replaced. Finally, our house no longer looks condemned and vacant.
Since nothing was taken, we can only assume that it was either kids who had nothing better to do or the intruder got spooked off by a passerby or security system. It is unnerving that a stranger has been in our home and knows stuff about us - what we look like, that we have kids, etc. We've taken extra precautions to avoid another occurrence and hope that it works.

All in all, we are so appreciative of great neighbors, family and friends who came to our rescue!
